5 Year, Still Strong (I have no idea what's up with the spacing. LJ is being a bitch right now)

As some of you may know, today is Big Bang's 5th Anniversary. That's right. Big Bang debuted on this day (8/19) 5 years ago at a YG Family concert. Now you maybe not think that it's a big deal that it's their 5 year anniversary but it kind of is. Because in South Korea most groups, mainly boy groups don't survive to see their 5th year or they disband right after wards. A lot of the fans call it the 5yr curse. Their are only a few groups that are still together more than 5 years. Once again Big Bang breaks the mold. Even though their contract with YG would have been up today they signed a 4 or 5 yr (don't remember which) extension to their contract last year.

Now I wanted to do something special for this day and I couldn't really think of anything. I mean how could I top the countdown I did for their comeback earlier this year? The thought of posting all their MV came to mind then I realized just how many MV they have. 31! Then I thought about posting their solo MVs but unfortunately Daesung doesn't have any. :/ So I finally decided on a countdown of the(my) top 10 MVs.

From 31 I went down to 16 from 16 I went down to 12. Picking number 10 was the hardest for some reason.

(My) Top 10 Big Bang MVs

Now I need to do an honorable mention for 12 and 11 because I really like this MVs but unfortunately they didn't make the list.

#12 Last Farewell

#11 Goodbye Baby

#10 Dirty Cash

Let's go back to 2006.  It's really funny seeing this MV because of how young they look. Especially Seungri. Look at him. The cutey young panda. I forget he was like 15 when they debut. But anyways, I find this video pretty funny. I mean come on GD in the beginning with the fake 'stach, running around with the megaphone, Seungri and Daesung fighting and Taeyang dressed as a girl. Okay, that's a bit scary.  Don't ever do that again TY. I don't really think there's a storyline in this and if there is I have no idea what it is. This is one of the few MV of theirs that actually put a smile on my face.

#9 Tonight

Seriously, how amazing is the scenery in this? Vegas is gorgeous. Like it wasn't before but Big Bang makes it better. This is the first MV where Daesung is the lead. XD Normally it's GD and on occassions TOP or Taeyang but never Daesung or Seungri. Now it's Daesung's time to shine. And
that he does. I don't think he's ever looked hotter than he does here. The storyline has twist in the end. Just when you think Daesung has the girl TOP takes her from behind. You sneaky bastard.

#8 Sunset Glow

Come on how can you not love this MV? This video is just plain fun with a capital F-U-N. The boys are riding around Seoul and the surrounding area on a school bus (PARTY BUS!) crashing different places and surprising the people there. Imagine you're at school and all of a sudden these 5 guys run in dancing and singing. How awesome would that be? Then they take you on the party bus to the beach. This is another video that puts a smile on my face. Let's Go West.

#7 Lollipop

Lolli lolli oh lollipop. Oh the video and song that started it all for me. Who'd knew that a video and song for a phone would become this big of a hit? Not only that but it was a hit even without promotions. And this was the first time we got to see 2NE1. Really the colors and the fashion make this video good. IT'S SO COLORFUL! 8D It like hypnotizes you. Puts you in a trance of sorts.

#6 Gara Gara Go

From one colorful video to another. This one may not be as colorful with Lollipop but it still managed to rank higher. It's the lights. All the flashing lights. 8D All this video really is is them dancing on the same stage but with different outfits and some solo shots. This was the time where Seungri had that trench coat thing going on and GD with his greasy hair. (It looked greasy when its down. What can I say, I didn't like it.)

#5 Beautiful Hangover

There is something about this MV that I really love. I don't really know what it is exactly but either way I love this MV. As for the storyline I can tell what each of them are exact for TOP's. All he does is just rap in this room, sitting on a chair or standing up. And that's probably because he had injured his next during the filming of this so that's why there's so little of him. And it still bugs me that I can't figure out where I've seen the girl from. She looks so familiar to me. I don't know if there's really such a thing as a beautiful hangover.  Hangovers suck most of the time.

#4 Lies

Enter piano here. The song that became their breakthrough hit. This video is different from the ones that they had done before this. This one has a storyline and not only that but a sad one. The girl is full of guilt the entire video because GD takes the blame of her crime and now he's paying for what she did. Did anyone else laugh when TOP came into the scene in a shopping cart? XD I literally couldn't stop laughing the first time I saw that. I think that scene in the 2nd version is funnier.  It took me a while to realize that the camera men behind GD were Seungri and Daesung. And that Taeyang had no hair. And here's a random fact. The girl's voice in the beginning of the song is actually fellow label mate Gummy.

#3 Haru Haru

Let's continue the theme of the sad MVs. The video reunites TOP with his I Am Sam cast mate Park Min Young (who recently played Nana on City Hunter). This video is actually sadder than Lies. GD sees his girlfriend or ex with TOP and gets jealous. The rest of the members get stuck in the middle.
But it turns out that Min Young and TOP had a reason for doing what they are were doing. I know of a few people who actually teared up at the end. You didn't want it to happen but you had a feeling it
would.

#2 Tell Me Goodbye

I believe this MV gave me goosebumps when I first saw it. This song is actually theme for the Japanese dub of IRIS. Which is kind of cool because they did an insert song for the regular Korean drama but this time it's the theme. I just think that this whole MV is just beautiful. I love the concept of this video. This is another "tragic" video. I really don't know what else to say about this MV. It's just so good that it speaks for itself.

#1 Love Song

I think by just watching his MV you'll know why it's #1. There are no words for how beautifully amazing this MV really is. I love how it seems that they shot the MV all in one scene. I wouldn't be surprised if they did because I watched the behind the scenes for this and they were running to get to their next spot whenever the camera panned away from them. And I love how none of them acknowledge each other throughout the entire video. They're in their own little world mourning the death of their love. I think not having this video in color was brilliant. Because I don't think the video would really be anything special with color. So I think not having color added to the effects. This video is just pure perfection in my opinion.

I'm The Best!!!!
cl
[info]spicenee_chan
2NE1 made their comeback a few minutes ago on SBS Inkigayo with I'm The Best.

Now as we all now this song is off of their upcoming mini album that will be released in a few weeks.  Blackjacks everywhere were excited with the girls first started teasing their comeback with Don't Cry and Lonely.  Finally they released a song that will get promoted on the music shows (don't know about Music Bank.  I think KBS is still being assholes about it.).  The song dropped a few days ago and instantly they made an all-kill on the charts.

The girls came back with a look and concept that no other girl group in Korea can pull off.  And that's because there no other girl group is as fierce as these 4.  I don't care what anyone says but I actually like their hair.  They can pull it off.  This stage is fierce and hot!  There really isn't anything wrong with this stage.  The girls brought it tonight.  Out of the rest of comebacks tonight 2NE1's was the comeback of the night.  They stole the show and rocked it.  There really is no other girl group out there than can rival these girls.  They are in a league of their own.  Sorry 2PM (who made their comeback tonight) and all the other artists promoting right now but I have a feeling that you guys aren't gonna be winning on the music shows (unless it's Music Bank and even then 2NE1 can still win.) because the girls are back.

You know what, the name of the song says it all when it comes to them.

What has happened?  Have I actually wrote something?  Looks like I have!  It's a very short drabble.  A teaser of sorts of a possible new story.  It's all gonna depend on the feedback I get.  So tell me what you think.

A comeback and a win all in one night!

Our favorite girls, 2NE1 made an unofficial comeback about 40 minutes ago on SBS Inkigayo.  I say unofficial because this was a special comeback stage because even though YG said that the girls would not be promoting Lonely on any of the music shows.  But I guess once the girls achieved a perfect all kill on the music charts with Lonely and Bom with Don't Cry, he changed his mind.(sort of)  He decided to have the girls perform on this weeks Inkigayo along with Bom performing Don't Cry

For weeks now, we've only seen performances of Don't Cry and Lonely exclusively on YG on Air.  (I know, I've been bad and haven't been posting those videos but you can go on 2NE1's Youtube page and see them.  The videos also have Big Bang in it too.  I'll probably post them up later.)  Even though I love the performances on YG on Air I'm glad to see them on a music show.  The main reason was because I wanted to just how they would perform this song on one of these shows.  Both performances were great.  I mean you can't expect anything less from them.  Bom performed a beautiful acoustic version of Don't Cry.  Even though you could tell she was nervous it was still beautiful.  (I have just hear all the anti fans bashing her because of this performance.  Their just jealous.)

The girls even won tonight!  You could tell that the win took them by surprise by their expressions.  They totally weren't expecting to win.  That probably because they haven't been promoting it.  But the song has actually been in the running on Inkigayo and MCountdown since it's been released.

If YG keeps to his word of a new song being released every 3 weeks, their official official comeback will be next week with a new song.  I believe that one will be off of the new mini album expecting in late June.

Lonely
cl
[info]spicenee_chan
2NE1 released their new MV today.  Lonely is from their new mini album out in June.  Unfortunately Lonely will not be promoted.  But fear not, the girls will start their promotions in 3 weeks time with a new single.  And 6 weeks from now the new mini will be released.

I was only able to watch the video once (for now) because I am currently at work but the song is on replay.  The song is completely different from their style of music.  Which sort of catches you by surprise.  Throughout the song your expecting for the drums or the beat to come in but it never does.  It's like your listening to an acoustic version of a song.  It almost is.  There is no autotune so you hear the girls real voice.  The song is really quite refreshing.

The video reminds me of Big Bang's Love Song.  I think it's because they are walking around by themselves not interacting with the other members.  Their style and fashion is still there (of course).

As usual YG doesn't fail to impress.  Teddy did an amazing job with the song and video completes the package.  Daebak!

YG On Air: Park Bom
bom
[info]spicenee_chan
YG launched something new this week, YG On Air.  The main concept of this is to have live performances from the YG artists.  Performances that normally wouldn't be seen on music shows.  Apparently it is going to be a weekly thing.  At least that's what I got out of it.

For the premiere YG gave us a live performance from 2NE1's main vocalist Park Bom.  Bom performed an acoustic version of You and I as well as Don't Cry.  Not only that but 2NE1 gave an update on their comeback.  May 12th, Lonely.  Unfortunately there are no subs yet.  YG is taking their time with the subs.  I believe Friday we are going to get a 2NE1 version of Don't Cry and then the following week Lonely.

Bom's voice is amazing to begin with but live is so much more better.

Time for goodbyes
GDRI
[info]spicenee_chan
Big Bang had their last 2 goodbye stages yesterday and today.  They boys spent a little over 2 months promoting both their albums but now it's time for those promotions to end.  The boys are getting geared up for their upcoming Love & Hope tour next week in Japan.

The boys said their goodbyes on MBC Music Core on Saturday with Stupid Liar.  Being that Music Core does not have awards they boys have been performing Stupid Liar instead of Love Song.

The boys had their final goodbye stage on SBS Inkigayo today.

They had won last week on Inkigayo but because last week was a special episode they did not give out the award last week.  So MC Sulli and Jo Kwon presented them their award today.  As you can see, the boys where overly excited to get the award.  XD

Because this was the last goodbye stage the boys prepared something special.  They had a special intro composed of their solo songs.  Not only that they also performed Love Song.  Big Bang also won the Triple Crown today with their 3rd win on Inkigayo.  They ended up leaving on a high note.

This is your present, so Baby Don't Cry.
bang
[info]spicenee_chan
Big Bang started their goodbye stages today on MCountdown.  This marks the first of 3 goodbye stages that they boys will perform.  They are ending their promotions of their Special Edition album in order to focus on their Japanese tour that starts in 2 weeks.  It's sad to see them go already.  It seems like they just made their comeback a few weeks ago.  But they will start promotions in Japan next so it works out.

Being that it was Daesung's birthday on the 26th, YG decided to have Daesung perform  Baby Don't Cry as well.  It was like a birthday present for him and us at the same time.  Which we will thank him for.  :)

GD............take off that hat.............

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY KANG DAESUNG!

The boys also won this week.  Unfortunately they did not triple crown for this round of promotions.  This is the only time that they were able to win on MCountdown.  (CN Blue won 2 weeks ago and 4minutes won last week so.)  The boys do however have a chance to triple crown on Inkigayo on Sunday. (I think....)
